Push yourselves out of comfort zone, Ganon Baker tasks Nigerian coaches

Elite basketball trainer, Ganon Baker has challenged Nigerian basketball coaches to feel challenged and aim for success on the court by getting out of their comfort zones.

He stated this during his interaction with journalists at the opening day of Sports Renaissance Africa Partners (SRAP) 5-day basketball clinic for coaches and players at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package B, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja yesterday.

“We want to teach the kids and coaches how to win in life and win in basketball. We want to see basketball change their life in a good way. I see a lot of talents but unpolished and inexperienced. One day, they can be among the best players in the world.

“These players make me feel challenged and make me better. If we give them a formula, they go home and work on them. The coaches must not be afraid to teach and must get out of their comfort zone. If you have good coaches, you will have good players,” he said.

Regarded as one of the premier basketball player development coaches in the world, Backer said he wants to build a basketball academy in Nigeria and get talents to play in the NBA and WNBA.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SRAP, Relindis Mbu hailed the Backer’s passion to help develop basketball in Nigeria.

“He has the energy and the passion to really transform Nigeria basketball. It is part of our goal is to get tactical training for the coaches and transfer it and build an ecosystem of basketball here.
