The Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has urged small and medium-scale businesses in the country to take advantage of the trade houses it established in Asia, Europe and America to export made in Nigeria products.
Speaking at a sensitisation workshop for stakeholders in the North East held in Yola yesterday, the council’s Executive Director and Chief Executive, Dr Ezra Yakusak, who was represented by the zonal coordinator, John Okorie, said the strategy was developed to remove trade barriers that saw Nigerian products being rejected overseas.

“The Cairo, Lome and Nairobi trade houses were launched between March and August 2022 and have fully commenced operations while the others will be commissioned in not too long,” he stated.
Yakusak explained that the trade houses set up in Canada, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Europe, Kenya and Lome among others, would help diversify the Nigerian economy away from over-dependence on oil.
In a welcome address, the Head of Trade Information, Friday Ogiri, said the workshop was organised to educate stakeholders on the existence of the trade house, and encourage local businesses to export products abroad and earn foreign exchange.
Some of the participants who spoke at the workshop said the forum equipped them with the right information on the trade houses and encouraged them to work toward exporting their products.
