Tyo-Mu Concerned Youth Vanguard in Benue State on Wednesday in Abuja alleged that the purported attack on Governor Samuel Ortom’s convoy was a decoy aimed at grabbing a wide expanse of land belonging to their ancestors.
The president of the group, Vershima Tsebee, in a statement, said the Tyo-Mu settlement is located on Kilometer 12 along Makurdi-Gboko Highway.

He urged security agencies to carry out a holistic investigation of crises within the community which has led to the loss of lives and destruction of property.
He said there had been communal crises between Hyarev and the Kparev settlers for over 100 years over rightful owners and privileges to the land.
He said that the narrative of Fulani militia attacking Ortom was crafted to scare the inhabitants of Tyo-Mu and clear way for those that wanted to grab the land.
Reacting, the Special Assistant to Ortom on New Media, Raymond Magen, described the allegation as untrue, saying the attempt to change the narrative of the attack on his principal was politically motivated.
