The board of Purple has appointed Mrs Jumoke Akinwunmi as acting chairman effective January 1, 2022, continuing in her role as an independent director.

This followed the retirement of Mr Olutola Mobolurin as chairman and independent director on the board of Purple after nine years.

A statement from the property and assets firm indicates that Mobolurin helped to grow Purple from a start-up to a group of companies with total assets of N25bn and paving the way for its 2022 strategic plan to grow total assets to N75bn in the near term, and that he will continue as advisor to the board of Purple as it takes necessary steps to grow its total assets.

The new Chairman, Mrs Akinwunmi, has over 25 years of experience in the real estate sector and was interim Managing Director (MD) of the Family Homes Funds.

The firm also appointed independent directors including Fiona Ahimie who is the current MD of FBNQuest Securities Limited.

Ms Seyi Sowale, another independent director, remains on the board of Purple and has now been reassigned as Executive Director, Finance, Strategy and Commercials.

Other members of the board are Muhtar Bakare, Sir (Pharm) Nnamdi Obi, Prof Hilary Onyiuke, Adedoyin Afun, Olatunbosun Omoniyi and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Mr Obinna Onunkwo.

Commenting, the Chief Executive Officer of Purple and its subsidiaries, Olaide Agboola, said the board of Purple was delighted to have these highly skilled and respected personnel led by Mrs Jumoke Akinwunmi, continue with the other members of the board as Purple drove towards a greater growth period.
