PTML Customs rakes in N239.2bn in 9 months

The PTML Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has raked in N239.2bn in the last nine months.

The Controller of PTML Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tenny Mankini Daniyan, in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Yakubu, disclosed that the command realised the revenue between the months of January to September 2024, despite drop in vehicle import.

The controller stated that revenue collection, in the period under review, is N53.4 billion higher when compared to the N185.7 billion collected in the corresponding period of 2023, showing a 29 per cent increase.

Daniyan stated that going forward, RoRo vehicles shipped from China to Nigeria will account for the increase in revenue collection for the Service as time goes by.

“As at this same time last year, we had about 64,000 declarations but now we have about 33,000. That is to tell you that the cargo throughput has really gone down. Minimally, it is not actually affecting the revenue collected, rather we are making more from the little we have because there are other mechanisms we have put in place by the command’s valuation unit, CIU and Post Clearance Audit (PCA). All of these contribute to the total revenue we get,” he said.
