The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 will on May 12 formally take possession of the ThisDay Dome converted to an isolation centre.
The 180-bed centre, located at the Central Business District of Abuja, is being sponsored by CECCE, Regent Schools, Abuja; Sahara Energy Limited and other corporate bodies.
Speaking after the Medical Adviser and Coordinator of the centre, Dr Peter Nmadu, took reporters around the facility, the Vice Principal of Regent Schools, Olusegun Akinola, said they were convinced to join the Federal Government in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said: “We were told that there will be a need for beds, the board of the school donated 180 beds and mattresses. We’re not only a school for academic excellence; we also give back to society.
“We’re sure that our students would be happy to know that the beds are being used to save lives and we’ve since ordered brand new beds for our hostels.”
Akinola noted that there were only 21 beds in the centre before his organisation added 180 to it.
