Giri, who made the observation in an interview with our reporter, attributed the incessant clashes between the two groups in the council to non-payment of compensation to the affected farmers, whose farmlands were carved for grazing in the area.
“I believe that most of these clashes are majorly as a result of lack of compensation for the grazing reserve to the affected farmers, but I am happy now that the matter is before the FCT minister and I trust he will look into it to see how the affected farmers will be compensated,’’ he said.
He said the council is always disturbed anytime there is an outbreak of crisis, especially between the farmers and herders in the area, saying it was high time for the two groups to start tolerating themselves and live in peace with one another.
He recalled that the recent clash that left a Fulani man dead at Ibwa community was as a result of a misunderstanding between some youth of the community and a Fulani, which resulted to death of a Fulani man, in which he blamed its cause on the youth of the area.
