Protests: DSS, others urged to ensure peace, stability in Kano

The Department of State Service (DSS) and other security agencies have been urged to arrest and probe troublemakers bent on plunging Kano State into crisis.

This followed various protests that rocked Kano metropolis last week sequel to the controversies that trailed the certified true copy of the Appeal Court judgement which sacked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and declared candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Nasir Yusuf Gawuna as winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja, Coordinator of the National Coalition Against Terrorism, Terrence Kuanum, said Kano needs peace and stability for socio-economic and political development of the state.

He said, “This action has started already with pockets of protest by few rioters in the guise of protesting the Appeal Court judgement which confirmed the sacking of Abba Kabir Yusuf as governor of Kano State.

“The main target is to discredit the image and administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and theme him incompetent to govern the country.

“This must be properly checked by the security agencies in order to forestall anarchy and violent killings in the state.”
