Protesting civilian staff of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) were beaten by soldiers deployed to maintain order in Kaduna State on Monday.
The incident took place at about 8am when the protesting staff gathered in front of the company to express frustration over the non-payment of their 2019 minimum wage arrears.
It was gathered that during the protest, soldiers were dispatched to disperse the staff, forcibly pushing them away from the company’s premises.

Witnesses said a staff member of the company was beaten by the soldiers and a civilian security staff taken into custody.

When contacted, the spokesman of DICON, Musa Yakubu, stated via a text message that he was not on ground but was following up on the situation.
