The youths of Ovom community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have protested the killing of one of the youths in the area by the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.

Though the police authorities in the state said the deceased youth was a suspected criminal who tried to evade arrest when police operatives went to arrest him; a situation that led to his death, Governor Douye Diri has ordered investigation into the killing.

The police spokesman in Bayelsa State, SP Asinim Butswat, said the suspect was killed at a criminal hideout in the community.

The governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, also directed that an autopsy be carried out to determine the cause of death.
