President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should do everything possible to ensure that the proposed nationwide protest is stopped. This is because sitting down, watching and counting the days of the protest would not come up with a solution.
Moreover, the devastating impact of such protests can result in backwardness to the nation’s economy. Of course, there is hunger and poverty, which I believe are what actually triggered the youth to this action.
Despite all this, government can still consider these suggestions as emergency measures to douse the situation:
- President should as a matter of urgency return the fuel subsidy because the removal of the subsidy brought hardship and is the primary reason for the dire situation in the country.
- Reopening land borders will also help boost trade with other African countries, and there will be availability of food in the country.
I urge Mr President to use these pieces of advice to tame the situation.
- Nigerian music icon, Onyeka Onwenu, dies after performance
- Adamawa govt denies receiving federal food aid, urges caution on protests
Let me add that the proposed nationwide protest is not a solution and as such I plead with Nigerian youth to stop it and wait for the President to announce the actions he will take in addressing the hunger, poverty, high rate of unemployment and inflation in the country.
