Addressing a crowd of supporters on Wednesday, she said supporters of the opposition party must protect their votes to ensure a free and fair election.
“We urge you to translate your support into votes during the election. You must not be intimidated by anybody, including the compromised ones among security personnel who may allow themselves to be used to rig the election,” she said.
Masi added: “Today, my home town, Michika, is under the control of Boko Haram, so if anybody wants to use security personnel for something, it should be to fight against insurgents.”
In his speech, a party chieftain in the area as well as former chairman of the state PDP, who defected to APC, Umaru Mijinyawa Kugama, said: “Mayo-Belwa is the home of our father and leader, Admiral Murtala Nyako. Nyako endorsed APC and that is where we belong. As for those who betrayed the former governor, they will soon be disappointed.”
Also, the gubernatorial candidate of APC, Mohammed Bindo Jibrilla, expressed gratitude to the people of Mayo-Belwa for their support and the party, assuring that they will be carried along if he becomes governor of the state.
