Promotion not rights for civil servants – FCSC

The chairman, Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) Deaconess Joan Ayo has declared that promotion for civil servants was not a right but a privilege.
As such, she said  civil servants must up their performance to earn promotion.
She made the declaration yesterday in Abuja while briefing reporters on the commission’s mandate and conduct of the 2015 directorate level promotion evaluation exercise.
She said that it was wrong to think that she was a “hydra-headed monster” that just sat  on a throne and act anyhow, but that she held  regular meetings with board, management and staff of the commission in the interest of the civil service and the nation.
She said that since 2012 when she assume office, the commission made commitment to discharge its constitutional mandate to adhere strictly to rules and regulations guiding and that it has ensure that promotions are conducted as at when due.
