Progressive Students pass ‘no confidence’ vote on Sokoto APC leadership

A group under the aegis of Progressive Students of Sokoto have passed a ‘vote of no confidence’ on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state over alleged attempt to impose a candidate during the party’s primaries billed for tomorrow.

They, however, vowed to resist any attempt to impose the deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu, as the flag bearer of the APC in Saturday’s primaries.

A statement signed by their chairman, Nura Muhammad Sokoto, said Senator Aliyu Wamakko must allow the party to conduct free and fair election so as to establish justice among the contestants.

“Any attempt to impose candidate will be automatically rejected; hence, we will mobilize against it,” they stated.

They said the national headquarters of the party must ensure adequate supervision of the primary because they had lost confidence on the leadership of the party in the state.

They called on members of the party to be proactive so as to rescue the party from imminent failure in 2019.

“What we are asking for is free and fair primary in order to elect a candidate that can defeat PDP’s candidate in the next governorship election,” they said
