Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has approved the appointment of Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu as the new Wazirin Sokoto following a recommendation of the Sultanate Council.
Before his appointment, Junaid was a lecturer at the Department of Arabic Studies of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. He was also the chairman of the Moon Sighting Advisory Committee to the Sultanate Council.
Junaidu is a younger brother of the late Wazirin Sokoto, Dr. Usman Junaidu who died about two months ago after a protracted illness.
Governor Tambuwal also approved the appointment of four new district heads following the demise of the former district heads.
The district heads are Alhaji Kabiru Chigari Alhassan, District head of Wurno; Alhaji Bello Usman for Dange, Alhaji Nasiru Shehu Usman for Dogon Daji and Alhaji Sada Abubakar Dikko, district head of Gande.
According to the statement signed by the Secretary, Sultanate Council, Umar Faruk Ladan, their appointments took effect from November, 29, 2017.
