He outlined his agenda to include “physical and academic development, maintenance of standard and quality assurance in the university system, as well as maintaining a good relationship between the university and the host community.”
The agenda also includes the need to ensure “that staff and students’ welfare receive utmost priority, ensure that information and communication technology is well maintained in the university and harness the issue of funding and resource mobilisation.
“Without resources, all these objectives cannot be achieved, and we know how the country is and how difficult it is to get resources. But we should work with our stakeholders to ensure that the university gets the required resources for us to meet our mandate.”
The vice chancellor also appealed to the Gombe State Government, the host community and other stakeholders to continue their support for the university.
Prof. Pate promised to uphold the confidence and fulfill the mandate and further appealed to both academic and non-academic staff of the institution to cooperate with him in order to propel the university to greater heights.
