Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo has emerged as the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo.
The announcement was made by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the University, Professor Austin Awujo.
The Secretary to the Governing Council, and Registrar, Mr. Aniediabasi Udofia, said in a press release signed and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Uyo, that Prof. Ndaeyo is the first Alumnus of the University of Uyo, to be appointed Vice Chancellor of a Federal University in Nigeria.
He stated that the new VC is presently the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration in the institution and was the immediate past Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and Chairman, Committee of Deans.
“The Governing Council of the University of Uyo had at its Special Meeting held yesterday has approved the appointment of Professor Nyaudoh Ukpabio Ndaeyo as the 8th substantive Vice Chancellor of the University.
“Professor Nyaudoh Ukpabio Ndaeyo is a Professor of Farming Systems. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Farm Systems and Masters degree in Agronomy both from the Premier University in Nigeria, the University of Ibadan.
“Professor Ndaeyo joined the services of his alma mater, the University of Uyo as a Graduate Assistant on November 6, 1992 and rose through the ranks to secure a Full Chair as Professor in the Department of Crop Science, Faculty of Agriculture.
“A member of several learned and professional body which include Crop Science Society of Nigeria (CSSN), Farm Management Association of Nigeria (FMAN), Nigerian Rural Sociological Association (NRSA) and Agricultural Society of Nigeria (ASN) among others.
“Professor Nyaudoh Ukpabio Ndaeyo hails from Ini Local Government of Akwa Ibom State and is the first Alumnus of the University of Uyo, to be appointed Vice Chancellor of a Federal University in Nigeria. He is married with 2 children,” the release said.
