Professor Chinwe Veronica Anunobi has assumed duty as the National Librarian and Chief Executive Officer of the National Library of Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari had last week approved the appointment of Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi alongside other heads of some education agencies.

Prof. Anunobi, who resumed on Tuesday, solicited the support and cooperation of the staff to achieve greater mileage for the organisation and place it at par with its counterparts in the world.

She said: “I believe in collaboration and teamwork. To that extent, everyone here is a stakeholder and together, all of us are stakeholders in the success or failure of this organisation.

“I, as a stakeholder, have chosen the path of success and that’s why I am seeking your collaboration so that together, we shall succeed.”

Earlier in her remarks, Dr. (Mrs) Oluchi Kalu who had been acting as the National Librarian since August 2, 2021 welcomed Prof. Anunobi and pledged the unwavering support of the management and staff to the new national librarian.

She informed her of the intervention of President Buhari and the Federal Ministry of Education towards the completion of the permanent headquarters building, through a funding window by the Tertiary Education Fund.

Prof Anunobi had at different times been a lecturer at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri; Imo State University, and Federal Polytechnic, Nekede.

Until her appointment, she completed her tenure as the University Librarian of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri in April 2021 and returned to the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.
