Vincent Nwokedi, state chairman of the group, told Daily Trust that the increase became necessary due to the high cost of production of the product.
He said: “The cost of production has increased by almost 200 per cent in two months due to the exchange rate. The current market situation will not be good for the current price of sachet water per bag.
“And for us to maintain Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and meet NAFDAC requirements, we have to increase the price small to meet the demand of production. If things improve, we will review the price,” he added.
Our correspondent who went round the city, reports that most retailers have run out of sachet water due to a stoppage in its supply, a development that is signalling the new price.
The chairman further said the new price would take effect from today (Wednesday).
