Probes: No cash crunch in CCB — Kankia

The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has denied reports that it is having a financial crisis to perform its official duties, especially in the state offices across the country.

Acting chairman of CCB, Barrister Murtala Aliyu Kankia, said this on Thursday in Abuja in a statement.

Kankia, in the statement signed on his behalf by Mrs Veronica Kato, spokeswoman of the bureau, rejected a media report that its state offices are having financial difficulties to discharge their responsibilities.

The report had it that CCB headquarters in Abuja currently owes its 36 state offices running cost allowances for about seven months.

“The CCB state offices are usually considered and allocated funds over and above departments in the headquarters.

“Due to the present economic realities in the world today, Nigeria is not exempted. It is unkind and mischievous to accuse the headquarters of the bureau of starving state offices,” he said.
