Some governors undermine the Nigerian economy by sponsoring students to study in foreign schools in the face of high cost of forex and the availaility of good competent schools locally, Pro- Chancellor of Baze University, Senator Yusuf Datti Baba Ahmed, has said.
He said capital flight from education “has not reduced because of the unwholesome effect of some state governments.”
Many state governors “are massively leeching Nigeria’s resources to other countries like Ghana, Kenya despite the high cost of forex,” he said.
Senator Ahmed who said Baze University is by far of higher quality than some “universities in Sudan, Ukraine, China and many others were Nigerians study”, noted that those Nigerians are not there to study nuclear sciences or courses that are not being offered in institutions in the country but for regular courses like English or Business administration.
