Private school owners dissolve nat’l exco

The Board of Trustees of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) said it has dissolved its national executive, which was led by its former President, Chief Yomi Otubela.

The BOT, at a briefing in Abuja, said following the expiration of Otuleba’s-led administration on November 22, 2023, an interim administration has been constituted to steer the association for 4 months to conduct elections that would return normalcy to the affairs of the association.

Daily Trust reports that NAPPS had been engulfed with a leadership tussle as a group known as the People’s Parliament in NAPPS had earlier announced the impeachment of Chief Otubela for alleged sundry malfeasance.

The former president who denied all allegations against him had also been accused of plans for tenure elongation as he failed to constitute an electoral committee as early as required.

The Chairman of NAPPS’ BOT, Dr. Mijinyawa Said during the conference said the board’s decision was to save the association from untold administrative upheavals.

He said the doctrine of necessity was invoked and several action plans were rolled out to midwife a new administration to manage the affairs of the association and conduct credible elections within 120 days or 4 months.
