The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) has urged the federal government to end taxes levied on them by different arms of government.
The Chairperson of NAPPS, AMAC chapter, Habiba Jibrin, during the association’s induction ceremony in Abuja, said with private schools sustaining basic education in the country, it was becoming hard to sustain their operations due to huge taxes which they were made to pay various government agencies.

Habiba stated that with running private schools becoming capital-intensive due to economic challenges in the country, the government needed to intervene.
She said, “The private schools have helped in many dimensions, like in the aspect of infrastructure – ensuring that their pupils are not left behind in the areas of ICT, development of technology and the consistency of them being in school. It has never been heard that teachers are going on strike in private schools.”
