A 9-year-old boy, names withheld, has been arrested by the police from Karfe community in the Maje District of Suleja LGA, Niger State, for allegedly defiling a 3-year-old girl in the area.
City & Crime learnt that the accused, a primary 3 pupil, and the victim, a pre-nursery child, were attending the same private school.
An Abuja-based activist, Comrade Nura Muktar, whose organisation, Human Rights Network in Nigeria, is participating in the matter, said the boy was accused of luring the minor into an isolated class within their school and used his finger to defile her.
“She was rushed to the hospital bleeding and she was admitted for some days before being discharged.

“This was the second time the boy was accused of committing such an act against her at the school. He did the same sometime in July, which was resolved at the family level, only for the worse now to happen,’’ the activist said.
He said following the latest incident, the girl’s father went to the school and engaged its management in verbal confrontation and, in the process, hit the school’s computer and the printer out of emotion.
He said, “They reported him to the police and eventually arraigned him before a magistrate’s court before being released on bail,’’ Muktar, added.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident.
He said, “Today 9/11/2024, a report of indecent assault was received at Maje Div. Suleja against one Ibrahim Umar (9) of Sabon-Wuse. It was reported that on 6/11/2024, Umar and one other of the same school indecently assaulted a girl of about three years of Karfee, Kaduna road, by fingering her private part.
The police operatives of the division took the minor victim to the Suleja General Hospital for medical examination, while an exhibit of a pair of pants with suspected blood stains was recovered.
“During questioning, the said Ibrahim Umar, confessed to the crime in the presence of his parents. Further investigation is ongoing at Maje Division,’’ the PPRO said.
