Price of paddy and  locally processed rice drops in Taraba

Price of locally processed rice and paddy rice has dropped in Taraba state, Daily Trust findings revealed.

A 100kg bag of paddy rice now sells at between N10,000 and N10,500 as against N14,000 and N15,000 last week.

Similarly, the price of locally processed rice has dropped in the state.

It was gathered that 100kg bag of locally processed rice  is now sold  at N27,000 as against N37,000 last week.

Daily Trust findings revealed that the number of middlemen coming to buy processed and paddy rice in the state has reduced forcing the price of the commodity to drop.

Major paddy and proceed rice markets in Lau, Mutum Biyu, Garba-Chede, Tella and Maihula are witnessing low patronage.

A farmer, in Bali local government area, Mallam Ibrahim Adamu told Daily Trust that the prices of maize, beans, yam, melon seed (Agushi) soya beans also dropped.

He said a 100kg bag of white beans now sold at N14,000 as against N19,000 sold recently.

He said a 100 kg bag of Maize now sold at N9000 and N10,000 as against N13,000 sold previously.
