Presidential Amnesty scholarship student graduates with First Class in Law

A Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) scholarship student, Kemien Egbekun, has graduated with a First Class degree in Law, securing a CGPA of 4.77 from the Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU), Agbara-Otor, Delta State.

The Head of Education, PAP, Dr Charles Ariye, disclosed this in Asaba on Wednesday.

He said Egbekun’s remarkable achievement was celebrated during the university’s 6th convocation ceremony on September 6, 2024.

Two other PAP-sponsored students, Oladapo Damilola and Toikumo Prosper, also performed impressively, earning Second Class Upper Division in Law at the same institution. According to the Head of Education, Egbekun and her colleagues have joined the growing number of over 60 PAP-sponsored students who have bagged first-class degrees across various competitive disciplines between 2016 and 2023.

“These disciplines include electrical/electronics engineering, civil engineering, law and petroleum engineering, among others.”

Speaking on the academic performance, the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr Dennis Otuaro, expressed delight, saying, “the academic success of the students was a clear reflection of the programme’s goals.”

In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Igoniko Oduma, Otuaro lauded Egbekun and her peers for their outstanding achievements.

He attributed it to the strong backing of President Tinubu, whose support for the PAP has contributed to the positive outcomes.

“We are elated by the fantastic academic performances of the Presidential Amnesty Programme scholarship scheme students. Achieving such impressive grades as first-class and second-class upper division is no mean academic feat,” Otuaro remarked.

He emphasised that, “the successes recorded are a testament to the PAP’s commitment to human capital development in the Niger Delta region and the well-thought-out objectives of the scholarship scheme.

“The academic feats of PAP beneficiaries bring pride to the federal government, the PAP Office, their respective communities, and the region at large,” the statement stated.

Otuaro called on current students under the PAP scholarship scheme to take inspiration from these achievements and strive to maintain the commendable academic trajectory.
