The President of Côte D’Ivoire, Alassan Quattara, arrived in Nigeria on Saturday and inaugurated his country’s new embassy in Abuja.
It was a side activity of his attendance at the 60th extraordinary session of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Authority of Heads of State in Abuja on Sunday.
Speaking on behalf of President Quattara at the ceremony, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Kandia Camera, said the project is an expression and symbol of the quality of exceptional relations of friendship and cooperation between Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire.
“It is also the fruit of the vision of President Alassan Quattara, who takes a special interest in Ivorian diplomacy,” she said.
She said the new building will undoubtedly contribute to the promotion of the brand image of Ivory Coast and increase its visibility in Nigeria and ECOWAS.
Camera also stressed that the prospects for cooperation between the two countries are hopeful, revealing that with more than 860 billion CFA francs in global trade, Nigeria is the first African trading partner of Côte d’Ivoire.
Also speaking at the event, the Nigerian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohammed Abubakar, said the relationship between Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire has been very cordial and was tremendous and efficient.
