President John Mahama of Ghana on Sunday took a breather from his herculean presidential duties and went for a ride in Accra unaccompanied on a motorbike to assess the flood situation after a heavy downpour. He is reported to have rode through several neighborhoods in the capital. This is the first time, in recent years, a sitting Ghanaian President is known to have embarked on such an adventure. Former President Rawlings, who is a pilot, was reportedly fond of taking the steering wheel, in his youthful days. Here, the president getting ready for his ride.
