The Presidency said it has no comment on the threat by the National Assembly to invoke its constitutional powers against President Muhammmadu Buhari.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said this yesterday while fielding questions from State House correspondents after the cabinet meeting.
Asked what the Presidency’s comment on the threat was, the presidential spokesman simply said: “No, nothing.”
Both chambers of the legislature had, during a joint session on Tuesday, handed Buhari a marching order to shape up or face their action.
They had threatened to invoke their constitutional powers should Buhari fail to act on resolutions including, a call on security agencies to redouble their efforts to contain killings across the country and protect citizens’ lives and property.
The lawmakers had equally asked Buhari to take immediate steps to tackle unemployment and poverty, particularly as crude oil price has risen to $80 per barrel.
