The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has refused an application by the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) to bring additional witnesses in its petition against the election of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The five-member panel of justices presided by Justice Mohammed Garba on Tuesday ruled that the application constitutes a substantial alteration as provided in the Electoral Act, 2010 Paragraphs 14(1) and (2) of the First Schedule.
Justice Garba said having brought the application outside the 21 days of filing the petition on May 15, 2019, it cannot be granted.
