Premium Times editor Abdulkareem released by abductors

Abdulkareem Haruna, an Assistant Editor and North East Bureau Chief of the Premium Times online newspaper who was kidnapped on Monday, November 11, has been released by his abductors.

“I am right now with him (Abdulkareem); he has been released,” said his friend Gbenga Akinbule who spoke to our correspondent on phone around 9pm last night.

“He is doing fine though he was terribly traumatised…We thank God for his life,” he added.

Abdulkareem thanked all those who played key role in his release, saying he lacked words to express his gratitude. “I look forward to meeting my family after the horrendous experiences,” he said.

Haruna was kidnapped along Bade- Jagindi road in Kaduna while on his way back to Maiduguri en route Bauchi from Abuja.

He was reportedly abducted around 3pm when some gunmen intercepted the vehicle he boarded from Abuja.
