A total of 1,042 vulnerable and less privileged persons in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have benefited from the state deputy governor’s empowerment scheme.
The deputy governor, Dr Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, while flagging off the scheme, said the aim of the programme was to actualise government’s initiative on poverty eradication.
He said the beneficiaries comprised of children and pregnant women.
“I have engaged about 1,042 children and pregnant women from across the 10 electoral wards of Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State to cushion the economic hardship occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic in the state,” he added.
It could be recalled that Dr Akabe, had some weeks ago, supported some farmers in Doma with NPK fertilisers and cash.
