Predicted Arsenal XI against Newcastle United on Saturday

Arsenal return to action on Saturday looking to make it three successive wins in the Premier League.

The victories against West Ham and Cardiff City before the international break have given Unai Emery’s side some momentum and they will be looking to continue where they left off when they travel to Newcastle United this weekend.

So who should start for the Gunners against Rafa Benitez’s side on Tyneside?

Here’s the team Skysports correspondent Charles Watts would go for:

“If he’s fit – and it would be appear that he is – then Lucas Torreira has to come into the starting XI for me this weekend. His performance off the bench at Cardiff was excellent and I feel the time is right that he finally get his first start.

“I would pair him with Granit Xhaka in the midfield, with Torreira sitting the deeper of the two, allowing Xhaka to focus on getting the ball moving forward and making things tick in an attacking sense.

“Matteo Guendouzi has done little wrong and Xhaka obviously made another high profile error against Cardiff, but the Switzerland star does bring a passing ability to the team that other players currently lack in the Arsenal midfield.

“Other than bringing in Torreira, I would then stick with the same side that started against Cardiff – so that means Alexandre Lacazette up front, supported by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil.

“The defence then stays the same for me, with the same back four and keeper that started against Cardiff and West Ham.”

Do you agree with the starting XI Charles has gone for? Or would you prefer to see Emery set up in a different way against Newcastle?

Well, you can have your say.
