Pray for God to touch kidnappers’ hearts to repent, FCT monarch tells Christians

The Agabe of Gwargwada-Ugbada chiefdom in Kuje Area Council of the FCT, HRH Alhaji Hussaini Agabi Mam, has called on the Christian faithful to use the occasion of Christmas to pray for God to touch the hearts of kidnappers and bandits terrorizing the territory for them to repent and turn a new leaf.

Mam, who was speaking in his Christmas message, expressed concern over the spate of kidnapping and banditry in his chiefdom over the last few months, saying the rate of kidnapping has become a nightmare to his subjects.

He congratulated the Christian faithful for the celebration which, he said, was the birth of Jesus Christ, urging them to also use the occasion to reflect on the good deeds of Christ.

“My subjects in my chiefdom have for over a year been in a nightmare over incessant cases of kidnapping and banditry. I want to use the occasion of the celebration of Christmas to call on our Christian brothers and sisters to pray for God to touch the hearts of kidnappers and bandits for them to repent and turn a new leaf,” he said.

The monarch, however, stressed the need for synergy between the local vigilante and security agents in order to tackle the rate of kidnapping, banditry and other crimes across the chiefdom and FCT at large.

He, therefore, called on the FCT administration and authorities of the council to provide equipment and monthly stipends for the local vigilantes for them to put in more towards tackling kidnapping and banditry in FCT.

“Unlike before, our local vigilantes are being supported with manpower and monthly stipends which go a long way to boost their morale to engage the kidnappers,’ he added.
