Power project contractors ordered back to site

The Minister of Power, Engr. Sale Mamman, has directed all contractors handling power projects nationwide to return to site as the lockdown by the federal government is being relaxed gradually.

Engr. Mamman gave the directive when he inspected the new Gagarawa 132/33 kilovolts (KV) transmission substation being constructed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in Jigawa State at the weekend.

He said: “I can tell you that the impact of the pandemic is huge in the power sector as a real service provider. However, we have joined the government’s effort to restart the economy with the easing of the lockdown and opening of the interstate road. I direct all contractors handling power projects to return to site and work assiduously to recover from the losses recorded during the lockdown.”
