Two members of a syndicate that specialises in vandalising cables connecting transformers to communities in Lagos have been arrested.

The suspects, Olashile Obikoya, 21 and Victor Adebanjo, 20, were arrested at Lopez Close, Awoshika Estate, Agege with several rolls of stolen electricity cables.

Their arrest will bring to four members of the gang that were arrested in the last one week in Lagos.

Daily Trust reports that two siblings Igwe Kingsley and Igwe Chinedu were arrested for allegedly vandalising transformer cables in Lagos.

Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, said the duo was also alleged to have vandalised electrical wires from a building in the area.

Hundeyin said on receipt of the information, the Anti-Crime Patrol Team from Ikeja Police Station, Lagos State Police Command, responded and arrested the two suspects.

“They were arrested within the premises and recovered the already vandalised wires in their possession.

 

“The suspects are currently in police custody and are helping the police to get to their buyers. They will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded” he said.
