The Minister of Power, Engr. Sale Mamman, has mediated reconciliation between the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), over the conflict on a directive prohibiting the direct connection of power users to 33 kilovolts (KV) lines.
NEMSA had issued the directive to the 11 distribution companies (DisCos) over safety concerns since 2015 and 2019.

It had reiterated this on June 26, 2020, but the latest directive attracted the wrath of NERC as it asked DisCos to ignore it.
A message from the minister’s office said the meeting was held on Thursday to resolve the issue of conflicting directives on DisCos connecting point load customers to 33kv primary feeder lines.
At the meeting, Engr. Mamman emphasized the need for both agencies to adopt a collaborative approach. He restated that President Muhammadu Buhari expected them to work together to achieve the same common goal of serving the Nigerian people by giving them clean, safe, reliable, and affordable electricity.
Both the Chairman of NERC, Prof. James Momoh and the Managing Director of NEMSA, Engr. Peter Ewesor who represented their agencies, pledged to work together to resolve any perceived differences amicably, without causing any distress to the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).
