A member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly representing  Gudu constituency, Alhaji Sani Yakubu yesterday  asked people  to contribute to the education of girls as poverty should not inhibit the girl-child from acquiring education.  Speaking on his special bursary scheme for girl-children in his constituency, Yakubu said he established the scheme for female students as the girl-children from the area had been lagging behind educationally.     He explained that he earmarked N800,000 for disbursement to 200 female students from his constituency who are currently studying in various boarding secondary schools across the state, explaining that each of the 200 beneficiaries would be given N4,000 transport money, a school bag,  a dozen exercise books , a mathematical set, a carton of indomie noodles and a set of uniforms.
He said the gesture was his six-monthly assistance to these girls to help them in acquiring education.
