Poverty: Nigeria, victim of colonial masters’ conspiracy – Prof. Lumumba

A former Director of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission, Prof. Patrick Lumumba, says Nigeria and other African countries are currently victims of colonial masters’ conspiracy considering the rising rate of poverty on the continent.

Lumumba, who is currently delivering a graduation lecture at the National Institute for Security Studies, Abuja, berated politicians across the continent for knowingly and unknowingly joining the conspiracy.

The popular speaker maintained that African leaders’ love for hard currencies like the Dollar, Euro and Pound Sterling would continue to make African currencies worthless if immediate actions are not taken.

He called on the Africans to entangle themselves from their colonial masters who have refused to leave the continent despite giving independence to many countries the way Indians, Japan and others freed themselves.

Lumumba added, “We are still suffering from our inferiority complex. We must also ask ourselves are we the only countries that were colonised? India, Japan, Singapore and others were colonised but they have liberated themselves.”

The university don also backed the recent move by the federal government to teach primary schools pupils with the mother-tongue, saying Nigerians should stop allowing colonisers from measuring their intelligence through spoken English or French.
