Former Attorney General and Commissioner for justice in Edo state, Barr. Osagie Obayuwana, has said the suspension of the removal of petroleum subsidy by the federal government will not stop the planned protest against subsidy and hardship.

Obayuwana who is the South South Coordinator, People Alternative Movement disclosed this in Benin while reacting to the action of the federal government.

He said the suspension is not a cheering news as government has failed to address some of the vital issues raised by Nigerians.

“Well, the news that there is a postponement of subsidy removal is not a cheering news to us. It is like putting in an abeyance the hardship that still lurks in the shadows”.

“We only talked about the fuel hike because as proposed, he was coming to multiply our woes. He was coming to increase our burdens and pains” he said.

He said they have made suggestions that oil should be refine in Nigeria, reduced the high level of unemployment which is a source of hardship to Nigerians but they haven’t said anything in that direction.

“As it relates to the petroleum industry, we told them that making the refineries work will lead to the creation of jobs for the Nigerians”

“People are buying foods and drugs in tears. What are they going to do about that? They threatened the Nigerian people that they were going to increase electricity charges” he said.
