Pope appoints Faddoul first Bishop of Maronite Eparchy

Pope Francis has raised the Apostolic Exarchate for the Maronite faithful to the Eparchy of the Annunciation, with See in Ibadan, and has appointed Reverend Chorbishop Simon Faddoul as first bishop.

The Secretary General of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) Rev Fr. Ralph Madu said this Wednesday in a statement in Abuja.

Until his appointment, the new Bishop was the first Apostolic Exarch of the Maronite faithful in Central and West Africa and Apostolic Visitor to South Africa, installed on 6th April 2014.

Simon Faddoul was born on 7 January 1958 in Dik El Mehdi, Lebanon.

Madu said details of his episcopal ordination will be announced later.
