A Professor of Information Sciences at the University of Ilorin, Adetoun Omolola Idowu has identified exposure to the internet and poor morals as the leading causes of the prevalence of internet fraud among Nigeria youths.
The don said this at the the 200th inaugural lecture of the university at the weekend with the theme: “The Convergence of Practice and Teaching: An Exciting World of Library and Information Science”.

According to her, internet fraud was one of the most rapidly increasing forms of cybercrime rampant among students because of their exposure to different internet devices.
She suggested that to tackle the growing cases of cybercrime among Nigerian youths, the government should provide employment opportunities to students after school.
Prof. Adetoun decried the low reading culture in the country, adding that measures should be put in place for an improved library system in Nigeria.
