The Managing Director of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, Nuruddeen Rafindadi, says poor funding is affecting the agency.
He said this when the Senate Committee on FERMA led by its chairman, Senator Gershom Bassey, visited the agency on an oversight visit to its headquarters in Abuja.
He said while the FERMA required N125bn annually for road maintenance, it was only allocated N36bn in the 2020 capital budget.
He said: “Poor funding has affected our performance negatively in the sense that we’re not in the best position to do what we’d have wanted to do; to tackle the situation of the roads.
“We emphasise always on trying to make use of best available funds to show what more money can do, achieve the maximum value for money”.
