Politicians must bring succour to people – Ogun Rep

Member representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon constituency at the House of Representatives, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI), says it is the responsibility of politicians to bring succour to the people they represent.

He said it is in fulfilment of such responsibility that he donated bags of rice and cash gifts to his constituents.

The lawmaker said he recently gave out over 700 bags of rice and millions of naira in cash to hundreds of beneficiaries across the 21 wards of his constituency and beyond, adding that the beneficiaries included party chieftains, artisans, professionals, religious bodies, and traditional rulers across the state.

His media aide, Femi Peters, in a statement, said the donations were done to support constituents and party loyalists to enjoy the festive period despite prevailing economic challenges.

While presenting the items in Imeko, headquarters of Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, Isiaka said, “The welfare of our people is very paramount to us. We are not giving these items to party members alone, but to people across the federal constituency and beyond.

“In these tough times, especially during the festive period, we have to find a way to bring succour to our people. They have to celebrate the festive period with joy and cheer.”

Former Chairman of Imeko- Afon Local Government, Chief Ajani Oke, applauded the lawmaker’s gesture, describing it as unprecedented.

He said “This is a rare gesture and that is why we have to appreciate the donor, our own GNI.

“I believe this donation will really go a long way. Even before now, GNI has been a symbol of hope for us here. For us, this is not a surprise, it is who he is. And we are sure even more are on the way.”
