Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Abdullahi Salame flagged off the exercise at Arkilla village, Wamakko local government of the state ,
Salame who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Sahabi Dange stressed the need for parents to ensure that their children and wards were immunized against the disease.
Commissioner for health, Dr Jabbi Kilgori said the state government is doing everything humanly possible to ensure that the July 2009 target of interrupting polio from Nigeria is met.
He appealed to traditional and religious leaders in the state not to relent in supporting the exercise.
Also speaking, permanent secretary in the ministry, Alhaji Umaru Attahiru disclosed that, the state government bought adequate “pluses – gifts” for distribution in all the 23 local governments. According to Attahiru each immunized child will be given a gift to encourage the parents to bring their children during the four-day exercise.
