Speaking to Pyramid Trust while monitoring the exercise in Taura Local Government last Wednesday, Malam Ibrahim Darai said, the just concluded round of immunization was successful in the state.
Malam Ibrahhim Darai explained that the success of the exercise might not be unconnected with early preparations put in place by the state Gunduma Health System Directorate and the donor agencies. He noted that, adequate working materials including vaccines and soaps were taken to the designated centers on time and that vaccinators and other facilitators of the exercise came out for the exercise on time.
He however commended the Jigawa State government and the traditional leaders of the state, saying, “the contributions they rendered cannot be over emphasized. With the kind of support both government and the traditional leaders rendered, the child killer disease will soon be eradicated from Jigawa State.”
The healthcare officer further urged adhoc staff participating in the exercise to always be committed to the discharge of their duties, appealing also to the parents to present their wards to the vaccinators during the exercise, saying, “without your cooperation, the huge amount of money invested in the exercise by both the government and the donor agencies will be wasted.”
One of the parents interviewed by Pyramid Trust in Ringim, Alhaji Ibrahim Isa Sulaiman, commended the Jigawa State government for its commitment to the exercise, appealing to the parents to reciprocate the gesture by presenting their wards for vaccination.
Alhaji Ibrahim explaned that, “Going by the campaigns being carried out in the state through the media, the ignorance of people about the importance of the polio immunization should by now be over.”
