Policewomen stabbed over domestic quarrel in Edo

A police Inspector, Efe George Isiaka, has been reportedly killed by one Collins Anthony following a domestic quarrel over cleaning of kitchen and toilet.

It was gathered that the incident happened on July 17, in Uselu area of Benin City, after the suspect and two others attacked the female inspector in her room.

It was gathered that the deceased, who lived in the same compound and shared the toilet and kitchen with the suspects, had advised them to also participate in the cleaning of the facilities but it degenerated into a quarrel.

The suspect was alleged to have latter called some people, said to be his gang members, who attacked and stabbed her to death.

The state police command’s spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident, saying one Collins Anthony, had been arrested in connection with the murder while his two accomplices are still at large.

He said the deceased and the suspect earlier had a quarrel over sharing of the cleaning of the toilet and kitchen and the suspect threatened to deal with her and that she reported the threat at the Ohoro Police Station.

He said the divisional police officer tried to settle the matter, but when he couldn’t, he charged the matter to court, but before that could happen, the suspect attacked the woman in the house.

“On July 17, the DPO in charge of Ohoro Police Station received a complaint from one Patrick Isiaka, that his wife, one Inspector Efe George Isiaka, called him on phone that the suspects, Collins Anthony and two others who are co-tenants in the same compound, came to the house to fight her, and as a result, the husband went down to the house and found the wife in a pool of her blood.”

He said the deceased was rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) but was confirmed dead by a doctor on arrival and her corpse was deposited at the hospital morgue.

He said the suspect, who escaped from the scene after committing the crime, was arrested while his two accomplices were still on the run.

He said the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
