In the four-minute video, the police officers in a Sienna bus used for police patrol are seen running over a young man, identified as Success Ehimare, who is in handcuffs.

The incident was alleged to have happened on Ihumudumu Road in Ekpoma town after the police arrested the victim following an altercation.

The command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor in a statement, said CP Dankwara condemned the action of the officers and described it as barbaric, inhumane and unprofessional.

He said the officers had been arrested and were with the CID where they were undergoing interrogation.

Explaining how the incident happened, Nwabuzor said the officers while on routine stop-and-search intercepted the driver of an unregistered Lexus car and demanded the vehicle’s particulars.

He further said, “Along the line, he became aggressive and refused to oblige the request of the police operatives, but rather attacked them, inflicted injuries on them and destroyed a police vehicle.

“However, he was arrested, handcuffed and identified as one Success Ehimare before the incident (running over) that is currently trending in the social media.

He added that the victim was later taken to the Irrua Specialist Hospital and that he was in good condition.
