He said lack of accommodation which in the past constituted a source of stress to retired officers has been address by the introduction of the police housing scheme. “This is obvious bearing in mind that about 85 per cent of serving and retiring police personnel are not accommodated coupled with the fact that many police officers cannot boast of having their own houses,” he said.

The Chairman of Christabel International, Julie Okoye said retiring officers enter the society where their status changes and if not prepared; they are faced with lots of challenges which soon takes its toll on their finances and heath.

“The essence of the workshop is to inform the retiring officers that they can live a fruitful and productive life after retirement,” she said.
