Jide was reportedly beaten with a substance suspected to be charm following a crisis between two rival groups over the outcome of the congress at ward 10 in Ado Ekiti, the state’s capital.
He was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.
Speaking with journalists in Ado Ekiti yesterday, the Command’s spokesperson, ASP Sunday Abutu, said the police have commenced investigation to apprehend the suspects.
“We are putting all the necessary efforts to track down the suspected killer, including working with the party leaders to get him arrested.
“The matter happened yesterday (Saturday) and what we are doing now is to investigate the matter thoroughly and ascertain those that were involved in the dastardly act.
“Though no arrest has been made we are optimistic that no effort will be spared on the matter because the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Babatunde Mobayo, won’t tolerate crime and criminality in Ekiti”, Abutu said.
